Selection process for the F.E.C program

The selection process for the F.E.C programme is two-phased. In the first phase, the TE Services’ Education Unit, together with the training provider, assesses the applications and decides whether the applicant fulfils the general requirements for the training, as well as the admission criteria set separately for each programme. The general requirements include, for instance, the applicants’ educational need from the perspective of finding employment, as well as their applicability to the programme and the target profession. In addition to unemployed persons, recent graduates, and persons under the threat of unemployment can also be accepted as applicants. Persons under the age of 20 or full-time students cannot be accepted. The applicant should also have relevant educational background or work experience required for the programme in question. Other separately set admission criteria are described in the call for applications to the programme.

Applicants who have passed the first phase and are deemed suitable are invited to an information event, which starts the second phase of the application process, that is, the search for a collaborative organisation/company. The education provider carries the main responsibility for finding such organisations. The applicants can also search for a collaborative company/organisation for themselves. Suitable applicants invited to the information event have not yet been accepted to the programme. During this stage, the education provider can organise activities supporting the search for a company/organisation to cooperate with, but this is not part of the F.E.C training.

The prerequisite for admission to and commencement of the F.E.C training is that a collaborative company/organisation has been found for the suitable applicant for the duration of the program. The TE Office will finalise the admission decision when the organisation/company has been confirmed and the education provider has informed the TE Office accordingly. The decision will be sent to the customer. At this stage, the applicant is admitted to the F.E.C program, and the training can commence.
